Site Changelog

vCoDMods 2025.08
Update 2025-08-07
Changelog Summary
- Many bugfixes and improvements across the site.
- Themes updated for a better experience, but the site is primarily optimized for dark mode.
- Mobile site layout and usability improved.
- Many small design adjustments throughout the site for a more polished look.

Design & UI
- Like button on the mod page has been repositioned and redesigned.
- The number of mods displayed per page is now calculated dynamically based on screen resolution, ensuring 3 full rows for all users and consistent, symmetrical layouts.
If there is a display issue (e.g. missing mods or incorrect layout), simply resize your browser window and press F5. The new resolution will be saved to local storage and the display will update automatically.
- Many features like Like, Rating, Download, and Messaging are now visible in the UI even for guests. When not logged in, attempting to use these features opens a modal: “You need to log in to access this feature. Click here to log in.”
- New custom emojis have been added.
- New rank "Creator" introduced. This rank is assigned individually and is purely cosmetic.
- "Dump" and "Knowledge Base" (formerly Docs) now appear as main categories in the header (no longer as separate buttons).
- "About", "Terms", and "Privacy" texts have been updated.

Private Messaging & Notifications
- Private message system added: Users can send messages to each other.
- New users receive a welcome message in their inbox after registering.
- PM system includes Inbox, Sent, Drafts, and Trash folders.
- Messages can be deleted, restored, reported, and drafts are saved automatically.
- Message button available on mod view pages, user profiles, and the inbox is directly in the user dropdown under "Messages".
- Email notifications system introduced; users can enable notifications for:
   - Receiving a new private message
   - Being mentioned (@mention)
   - Someone commenting on their mods
   - Replies to their comments
   - Mods they like getting updated
- Notification dropdown now shows alerts for private messages and liked mods that have been updated.

Search & Discovery
- Old search filter replaced by an advanced search function with multiple filters and sorting options.
- All filters and sort options can be used individually or in combination.

Navigation & Categories
- Header redesigned: Now features main categories for each game, with subcategories beneath (previously only subcategories were shown).
- New main category "What's New" added, containing:
   - "Latest Updates" (recently updated mods)
   - "Latest Comments" (all recent and older comments)
   - "Top Downloads" (Top 25 mods for week, month, all time; week/month stats reset automatically)
   - "Site Changelog" (summary of all recent site changes)
- Dump and Knowledge Base now also appear as their own categories in the header for easier access.
- Discord server has been deleted and the “Discuss on Discord” feature has been removed from the site.

Upload & Edit
- In the upload and edit mod forms, there are now two select dropdowns: one for "Game" and one for "Category".
- Categories become selectable only after a game has been selected, making the process more intuitive and user-friendly.

System & Integration
- Altcha CAPTCHA has been added to the signup form for improved bot protection.
- The password reset form now requires both username and email for additional security (previously only username was required).
- Knowledge Base (formerly Docs) fully integrated into the site with custom code. Users can now also contribute their own articles.
- Dump section is now fully integrated into the site with custom code, no more 3rd party tools.
- All SEO links have been updated: Mods are now accessible under /subcat/modname instead of /view/modname for improved structure and discoverability.

Admin Panel
- Added "Account Monitor"
- Logging for private message reports added (all reported messages are now tracked for review)
